About this display
Display your U.S. coins alongside a seated Winged Liberty sculpture inspired by the portrait on the Mercury dime.
This coin display reimagines Adolph A. Weinman’s Liberty portrait as a full-body classical figure, retaining her recognizable winged cap and curled hair. Liberty sits on a rocky seat in flowing drapery, with one hand resting on her lap and the other extended to support your coin.
Her gaze is directed toward the coin, bringing the sculpture and the original numismatic artwork together in one composition.
Aurea Displays connects the physical coin with the artwork, symbolism and history behind one of America’s most recognizable dime designs.
The Mercury dime, also known as the Winged Liberty Head dime, was designed by Adolph A. Weinman and minted from 1916 to 1945.
Its obverse depicts a young Liberty in profile wearing a winged cap. The wings symbolize freedom of thought. The familiar “Mercury dime” nickname arose because the winged headwear reminded people of Mercury, the Roman messenger god, although the figure depicted is Liberty.
The original coin shows Liberty’s head and neck. This sculpture extends that portrait into a seated figure, with the body, clothing and hand positions developed as a classical artistic interpretation.
This display pairs a Mercury dime with a sculptural interpretation of the Winged Liberty portrait on its obverse.
The holder can be tailored to your coin’s diameter and thickness, including the approximately 17.9 mm diameter of a Mercury dime. Other U.S. denominations can also be accommodated with an appropriately sized holder.
The integrated platform rests on Liberty’s extended palm, positioning the coin in front of the figure. The visual proportions and amount of the sculpture covered will depend on your chosen statue height and coin size.
Please provide your coin’s diameter and thickness in the personalization field so the holder can be adapted to your chosen coin.
The head draws inspiration from Weinman’s Winged Liberty portrait, particularly the winged cap and curls framing her face.
Her seated pose, flowing gown and rocky seat extend the coin’s portrait into a complete sculptural composition. These elements are artistic additions rather than details depicted on the original dime.
This is an artistic interpretation, not an official U.S. Mint product.
The coin rests naturally on the integrated platform without being glued, clamped or permanently attached, making it easy to place and remove.
Pairing the sculpture with a Mercury dime allows you to appreciate Winged Liberty’s original profile alongside a three-dimensional interpretation of the same figure.
The coin shown in the photographs is for display purposes only and is not included.
The seated figure is an artistic interpretation of the Winged Liberty portrait, rather than a reproduction of a seated design found on the coin.
Coin dimensions vary between denominations and types. Please provide the diameter and thickness of the coin you intend to display when ordering.
