About this display
Display your U.S. coins alongside a full-body sculpture inspired by Liberty on the Saint-Gaudens double eagle.
This coin display brings Augustus Saint-Gaudens’s striding Liberty into three dimensions. Liberty advances with a torch raised in one hand and an olive branch in the other, the composition that defined the twenty-dollar gold piece from 1907 to 1933, adapted here with an integrated coin platform.
Aurea Displays connects the physical coin with the artwork, symbolism and history behind one of the most celebrated designs in American numismatics.
The Saint-Gaudens double eagle was designed by sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens at the request of President Theodore Roosevelt and struck from 1907 to 1933.
Its obverse shows Liberty striding forward, holding a torch of enlightenment and an olive branch of peace, with the U.S. Capitol and rays of the sun behind her. The reverse presents a flying eagle against a rising sun.
Often ranked among the most beautiful U.S. coins ever issued, the design replaced Longacre’s Liberty Head double eagle and brought a modern sculptural language to American gold coinage.
This sculpture preserves the recognizable torch-bearing Liberty while adapting the pose into a freestanding display figure. The hand supporting the coin is adjusted so your coin becomes part of the composition.
This display is particularly suited to pairing a Saint-Gaudens $20 gold piece with the Liberty from its obverse.
Saint-Gaudens double eagles measure about 34.1 mm in diameter. The holder can be tailored to your coin’s diameter and thickness. Other large U.S. coins can also be accommodated.
For this design, double eagles and other large gold or silver dollars provide strong visual proportions.
Please provide your coin’s diameter and thickness in the personalization field so the holder can be adapted to your chosen coin.
The torch, olive branch, drapery and stride of the sculpture draw on Saint-Gaudens’s original Liberty for the double eagle.
Adjustments to the arm position and supporting details accommodate the coin holder while keeping the spirit of the 1907 design.
It is an artistic interpretation, not an official U.S. Mint product.
The coin rests naturally on the integrated platform without being glued, clamped or permanently attached, making it easy to place and remove.
Pairing the sculpture with a Saint-Gaudens double eagle allows you to appreciate the torch-bearing Liberty alongside its three-dimensional interpretation.
The coin shown in the photographs is for display purposes only and is not included.
Saint-Gaudens $20 gold pieces and other large U.S. coins are the recommended choices for this design.
Coin dimensions vary between denominations and types. Please provide the diameter and thickness of the coin you intend to display when ordering.
