About this display
Bicentennial drummer boy coin display, a unique coin holder for your 1776-1976 Washington quarter and other small U.S. coins. Inspired by Jack L. Ahr's colonial drummer, it is a memorable gift for coin collectors and lovers of the American Revolution.
In the Continental Army the drum was the voice of command. Drummers, many of them teenage boys, beat the signals that woke the camp, called the soldiers to arms and carried orders across the noise of battle. The young drummer became one of the lasting symbols of the fight for independence.
Two hundred years later, the United States celebrated its Bicentennial. In 1973 the Treasury opened a national competition for new reverse designs, and sculptor Jack L. Ahr's colonial drummer was chosen for the quarter. He placed a victory torch beside the drummer, surrounded by thirteen stars for the thirteen original colonies. The quarters were struck in 1975 and 1976, all carrying the double date 1776-1976, with George Washington on the obverse. Special 40% silver versions were also made for collectors.
This display brings Ahr's drummer boy off the coin and gives your Bicentennial quarter a place of honour next to him, so the coin and its story can be shown together.
Bicentennial quarters measure about 24.3 mm. The holder can be tailored to the diameter and thickness of your own coin, including silver proof quarters and other small U.S. coins.
This is an artistic interpretation inspired by the historic coin design. It is not an official U.S. Mint product.
The coin is not included. Please provide the diameter and thickness of the coin you intend to display.
