About this display

Display your ancient coins alongside Cleopatra VII, the last active ruler of Ptolemaic Egypt and one of the most recognisable figures of the ancient Mediterranean world.

This custom coin display combines a historically researched representation of Cleopatra with made-to-fit holders designed around the diameter and thickness of your own ancient coins. Rather than displaying an ancient coin on a generic stand, Aurea Displays connects the coin with the historical figure and period behind it.

Cleopatra VII Philopator ruled Egypt from 51 to 30 BC and became closely connected with the final decades of the Roman Republic through her relationships and political alliances with Julius Caesar and Mark Antony. Her portrait appears on surviving ancient coinage, including issues connected with Mark Antony, making her an especially fitting figure for collectors of Ptolemaic, Greek and Roman-period coins.

HISTORICALLY INSPIRED DESIGN

The figure is created using surviving sculptures, ancient coin portraits and historical descriptions wherever these sources are available. The aim is to create a recognisable, historically informed representation rather than a generic Egyptian or classical figure.

CUSTOM FIT FOR YOUR COINS

Because ancient coins vary considerably in diameter, thickness and shape, the coin holders can be tailored to the individual coins they are intended to display.

Please provide the diameter and thickness of each coin when ordering. Weight may also be provided but is not required for sizing.

MADE FOR ANCIENT COIN COLLECTORS

The coins rest naturally in their holders rather than being glued, clamped or permanently attached. Each display is 3D printed in PLA, a lightweight and durable plant-based plastic commonly used for detailed display pieces. PLA provides a clean finish and allows the historical figure and coin holders to be produced with fine detail.

Each display is designed to turn an ancient coin into a small historical presentation, connecting the object with the person, culture and period behind it.

CLEOPATRA VII AND ANCIENT COINAGE

Cleopatra's reign sits at the meeting point of Ptolemaic Egypt, the Hellenistic world and the expanding influence of Rome. Her surviving coins are particularly important because they provide some of the few contemporary portraits created during her lifetime.

For collectors, displaying a Cleopatra coin together with a representation of the queen creates a direct visual connection between the ancient object and the historical person associated with it.

PLEASE NOTE

Coins shown in the photographs are for display purposes only and are not included.

Ancient coins are individually shaped and may not be perfectly round, so small variations in fit can occur even when two coins have the same nominal diameter.
