About this display
Display your coins alongside a sculpture of Emperor Vespasian with the mourning figure of Judaea, inspired by Roman Judaea Capta coinage.
Vespasian’s face is based on the Galleria Borghese’s Portrait of Vespasian, on a non-ancient bust (inventory XXXVIII). The head dates to around AD 70; the balding hairline, deep forehead wrinkles and full cheeks are taken from that portrait. The seated woman’s head-in-hand pose comes from Judaea Capta coins: she represents Judaea mourning the Roman conquest. That gives the scene a direct connection to the coin’s meaning, with the overall composition adapted for the display.
Aurea Displays connects the physical coin with the artwork, symbolism and history of the Roman victory series struck after the First Jewish–Roman War.
This display is particularly suited to pairing a Judaea Capta sestertius, denarius or related Vespasianic issue with the scene from its reverse.
The holder can be tailored to your coin’s diameter and thickness. Other Roman imperial coins of similar size can also be accommodated.
Please provide your coin’s diameter and thickness in the personalization field so the holder can be adapted to your chosen coin.
The portrait of Vespasian and the mourning Judaea figure are historically inspired interpretations created for a coin display. It is an artistic interpretation, not a museum replica or official mint product.
The coin shown in the photographs is for display purposes only and is not included.
Coin dimensions vary between denominations and types. Please provide the diameter and thickness of the coin you intend to display when ordering.
