About this display
Display your U.S. coins alongside a full-body sculpture inspired by the Liberty portrait on the Barber dime.
This coin display brings Charles E. Barber’s Liberty Head design into three dimensions. Liberty’s classical profile, laureled cap and familiar late-nineteenth-century features are extended here into a freestanding figure with an integrated coin platform.
Aurea Displays connects the physical coin with the artwork, symbolism and history behind one of America’s most widely collected dime designs.
The Barber dime was designed by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Charles E. Barber and struck from 1892 to 1916.
Its obverse shows Liberty facing right, wearing a Phrygian cap topped with a laurel wreath and a ribbon inscribed LIBERTY. The reverse places ONE DIME within a wreath, continuing the cereal-wreath tradition of earlier silver coinage.
Barber’s Liberty Head design was also used on the contemporary quarter and half dollar, giving the series a unified look across the silver denominations of the period.
This sculpture preserves the recognizable Barber portrait while extending it into a full-body interpretation. The pose and drapery are an artistic completion of a design that, on the coin, shows only Liberty’s head and neck.
This display is particularly suited to pairing a Barber dime with the Liberty portrait from its obverse.
Barber dimes measure about 17.9 mm. The holder can be tailored to your coin’s diameter and thickness. Other small U.S. denominations can also be accommodated, including later dimes, cents and nickels.
Please provide your coin’s diameter and thickness in the personalization field so the holder can be adapted to your chosen coin.
The head, cap and laurel of the sculpture are based on Barber’s Liberty portrait for the dime.
As the original coin depicts only the bust, the body, clothing and coin-holding pose are a sculptural interpretation created to complement the late-nineteenth-century style of the original artwork.
It is an artistic interpretation, not an official U.S. Mint product.
The coin rests naturally on the integrated platform without being glued, clamped or permanently attached, making it easy to place and remove.
Pairing the sculpture with a Barber dime allows you to appreciate Barber’s Liberty Head portrait alongside its three-dimensional interpretation.
The coin shown in the photographs is for display purposes only and is not included.
Barber dimes and other small U.S. coins are the recommended choices for this design.
Coin dimensions vary between denominations and types. Please provide the diameter and thickness of the coin you intend to display when ordering.
