About this display
Display your Roman denarii beside Hadrian, the emperor whose travels, reforms and distinctive bearded portrait left a lasting mark across the Roman Empire.
This custom coin display brings your ancient coins back into their historical setting. A carefully researched representation of Hadrian stands alongside made-to-fit holders, individually sized to the diameter and thickness of your own coins. Instead of placing a Roman coin on a generic stand, Aurea Displays helps tell the story of the emperor, the era and the world in which the coin once circulated.
Hadrian ruled from AD 117 to 138 and was known for travelling extensively throughout the provinces, inspecting the empire’s frontiers and strengthening its defences. His recognisable bearded portrait appeared widely on Roman coinage, making him an especially compelling figure to display alongside the coins issued during his reign.
The figure is created using surviving busts, sculptures, ancient coin portraits and historical descriptions wherever these sources are available. The aim is to create a recognisable, historically informed representation rather than a generic Roman figure.
Because ancient coins vary considerably in diameter and thickness, the coin holders can be tailored to the individual coins they are intended to display.
Please provide the diameter and thickness of each coin when ordering. Weight may also be provided but is not required for sizing.
The coins rest naturally in their holders rather than being glued, clamped or permanently attached. Each display is 3D printed in PLA, a lightweight and durable plant-based plastic commonly used for detailed display pieces.
Each display is designed to turn an ancient coin into a small historical presentation, connecting the object with the person represented on it and the world in which it circulated.
Coins shown in the photographs are for display purposes only and are not included.
Ancient coins are individually shaped and may not be perfectly round, so small variations in fit can occur even when two coins have the same nominal diameter.
Looking for another Roman emperor, empress or historical figure? Custom figures and different coin configurations can also be created for collectors looking for something specific.
