About this display

A standalone Lady Liberty statue inspired by James B. Longacre’s Coronet portrait on the Liberty Head double eagle, the U.S. twenty-dollar gold piece issued from 1850 to 1907. Liberty’s classical profile and coronet are based on the coin; as the original shows only her head and neck, the body and drapery are an artistic interpretation created to complement the nineteenth-century design.
