About this display
A standalone Liberty statue inspired by Augustus Saint-Gaudens’s Indian Head portrait on the U.S. ten-dollar gold eagle, issued from 1907 to 1933. Liberty’s classical profile, feathered war bonnet and LIBERTY band are based on the coin; as the original shows only her head and headdress, the standing body and drapery are an artistic interpretation created to complement the 1907 design.
