About this display

A standalone sculpture of George Washington standing in the boat on Christmas night, 1776, inspired by Emanuel Leutze’s iconic painting Washington Crossing the Delaware.

Washington wears the tricorn, cloak and Revolutionary uniform of the commander who led the Continental Army across the ice-choked river toward Trenton. He stands in the wooden boat among the oars, ice and riverbank, looking forward rather than back — the same resolve the painting made famous.

The scene is an artistic interpretation of that turning point in the American Revolution, created as a collectible figurine for a shelf, desk or history display.
